Delivered defensible design-basis metocean criteria for an offshore structure in the Gulf of Mexico, used directly in engineering design.
The client needed site-specific design values for waves, currents, wind, and water levels, but the available on-site observational record was too short to characterize extreme conditions directly.
Combined a long-term hindcast/reanalysis dataset with extreme-value analysis (peaks-over-threshold, multiple return periods) and validated the results against available buoy and gauge observations.
Delivered a design-basis report with multi-return-period criteria that the client incorporated directly into structural design and permitting.
